This would enable community patches without necessarily requiring said patchers to rebuild all of the PE codebase. Or perhaps a pre-patched such DLL to be dropped into the install folder. I have been tinkering with the notion of writing up a mod loader that strategically patches PE's main C# DLL and loads DLLs from elsewhere (similar to what KSP and Cities: Skylines and other mod-friendly Unity games do, except with more hackery). I was never really big on PE's multiplayer, so I ain't likely to be that soul ) Hopefully some enterprising soul is willing to do enough source code spelunking and C# hackery to get multiplayer working again. However, it looks like the lobby logic ties into the player avatars / nicknames ("roles", in the code's parlance), so it might be.
